Some items and several Twists of Fate provide bonuses to unlocked abilities. These bonuses can improve some abilities beyond the values attainable by assigning points to them alone. For example, a character with all 5 points in Skillful Defense has 20% better blocking; with 5 points and a +1 bonus to Might abilities, blocking is increased by 25% instead. Not all abilities improve beyond their normal limits.
Cap for Abilities is at +2. eg something has 6 levels, then it can be boosted to 8/6.
Weaponry/Attack Skills do not go over their Limit of 3.
The DLC Fatesworn and its increase of the maximal level to 50 has somewhat altered matters, enlarging the possibilities for totally dominating equipment: for example, there is a gargantuan (rare, non-craftable) shield ideal for Blademasters available at approximately range 45 called "Spy's Kite Shield of the Hammerlord" (216 Armor: Blocks 137 Damage): +3 to Finesse Abilities; +15% Physical Damage/Stun Duration, and +2 to Might Abilities. An equally puissant pure Might shield entitled "Juggernaut's Kite Shield of the Hammerlord" has an astounding +5 to Might Abilities (combining +3 Might from Juggernaut and +2 from Hammerlord).
