Description[]
The prisoner Nel says her companion Bareth was captured by the Tuatha. Bareth had fashioned a magical charm that protected the wearer from murghan, an ability the Tuatha hoped to exploit. I must find Bareth and his charm to learn more about what happened in this mine.
Details[]
The quest is part of a group of quests revolving around the survivors of Ashmoor and Eventide. The others are: Esha, Gask, and Ordo. Dialogue options relating to the other quests can be found in conversations with each quest NPC, and further dialogue is available after completing the related quests.
Walkthrough[]
Note: stealth can offer extra entertainment/another way to complete the quest.
- Unlock Nel's cage with the nearby lever and then talk to her. She will tell you that Bareth has been captured and is now deep in the mine. She asks you to rescue him.
- Past the red prismere door a lone sentry stands guard, and a little further is a room with 3 Tuatha and 2 caged Murghan Hunters. Once the room is cleared Bareth's corpse can be inspected, but the charm is missing.
- Alternatively, the Fateless One can sneak in and open the cages to unleash the Murghan Hunters on the Tuatha and enjoy the rather lengthy spectacle. The lever is to the left of the cage.
- Note: releasing the first batch of Murghan marks all Murghan in the cave as enemies.
- The charm can be found in the room to the south, by the murghan cage (in the glittering pile).
- Equipping the Murghan Charm turns all murghan neutral again.
- Once the room is cleared, the Fateless One can continue to the last room, where Cryamor awaits.
- If the Fateless One is skilled in stealth, or has a Phasewalk potion handy, the Murghan cages in the final room can be opened to provide some distraction. The lever is to the right, past the entrance to the room.
- Once all enemies are dead, the Fateless One should return to Nel to finish the quest (level-based XP ~4150 at level 39, and the Erathi Glyph, but no Gold).
Reward[]
- Erathi Glyph - to open the Eventide Treasure found in Twilight Pass
Notes[]
- The Murghan Charm is taken away at the end of the quest, and all surviving Murghan Hunters turn hostile.
- The Erathi Glyph opens the Eventide Treasures.
