- Chaos Essence is a reagent used to create potions. Its property is Chaos.
- The effects of consuming Chaos Essence are described in-game more at length than other reagents; the information is accessible through the "status - effects" section and is as follows: a special effect styled "Amplify Chaos" is created upon consumption of the reagent, uniquely given its own relatively lengthy description and its own effect name ("Amplify Chaos") in the mentioned area;
"This purple orb of pulsating energy contains a concentrated burst of Chaos Magic. It can grant incredible power when used as a reagent in potion-making, or it can be consumed directly for a minor Chaos Damage boost. +1% Chaos Damage."
(Further testing is needed to determine whether this reagent effect has any interplay with the "Chaos Thrall" Twist of Fate found in Fatesworn, which awards the Fateless One graduated, higher levels of Chaos effects and Chaos Magic Damage dependent upon progress in closing narrative-related Chaos Portals across Amalur.)
