Quotes[]
“My, my. Is Star Camp being visited by a goddess? Are they all as beautiful as you? Maybe I should slap on a habit and join the Mission down the road. You're in Star Camp, home of the Travelers, dove. Now, I don't suppose you came here by accident. Ask, dove. Ask to join our number.”— when first encountering him, if the Fateless One is female.
“Well, I've seen first-sized rubies, living people made of vines, and I've even seen a Jottun cry. But this is a first. Why join? The Travelers are renowned rogues, thieves, and all-around good folk. If you live in shadows, away from the law, we're for you. You want riches? We'll help you take them. You want fame? They'll sing songs of you forever. Want adventure? Look no further.”— upon asking why to join the Travelers.
“Oh, you're breaking my poor heart, dove, just like Crilgarin. But I trust you'll come to regret your mistake. When such a time has reached you, see me again. I'll be right here. But feel free to explore the camp, if you so like.”— if you reject his offer.
“And you've come back to old Grimmy. They always do, they always do, so I says. Now, as to what you came for: fancy on joining the Travelers?”— if you speak to him again.
“I thought by the look of you that you might. I've a good feeling about you. But some feelings count less around here than they should. I'll send you to the camp's leader, Crilgarin. She'll get you on your way.”— upon accepting his offer in joining the Travelers.
“Crilgarin's the tempting bit of Fae that runs Star Camp. You'll have to go through her if you want work in Dalentarth. But she and I have worked more than a few jobs together. She trusts my judgment, if she needs to.”— when asked about Crilgarin, Knave of Coins.
“Oh, don't mind me or nothing. Just an interested party, that's all. That's all.”— when asked about himself.
“Good, clean folk. Well, mostly clean. And mostly good. We live our lives in the wilds, making a living however we can.”— when asked about the Travelers.
“Never needed a life with a house, with walls and a roof. Here's is where a man can be free.”
“How're the shadows treating you, dove? Keeping well?”
While doing 'Jailbreak' at Ohn's Stand:
“It's... dove, it's you! Good on Crilgarin to send you - I was worried the Hierophant might get her way after all.”
“I was set up. The Hierophant sent me here to steal an old book - the Missives of Sable - from some Jottun. Sounded easy enough. But I was ambushed by a troop of Gnomish Praetorians, searching for the Missives. They want that book, dove - and they'll kill both of us for interfering. Steal the cell key, or pick the lock and get my tools, and I can sneak out. Or, you could beat the gnomes to the Missives - and bargain our way to freedom.”— when asked: How'd you get caught?
“Managed to get into pretty good spot here. Ain't getting gutted just yet - so'd be obliged to get me out before that comes.”— when asked about himself while being prisoner at Ohn's Stand.
“Oh, you mean the "beloved" guide of the Travelers? More like the pompous despot what got me locked in here. The Hierophant's will is what got me locked in here. I'd love to tell you more - after you get me out!”— when asked about The Hierophant.
“Well, it's what everyone came here for, isn't it? Some bloody old tome - but it must be real valuable to cause all this. Thing is, neither the gnomes or I got it. Which means it's deeper in the stronghold - with the Jottun. Find it, and we can buy our way out.”— when asked about the Missives of Sable.
“Gnomes always seemed friendly enough. But these Praetorians ain't messing around. They'll kill anyone that gets in their way. It must be something to do with this book. It's got to be something important... like getting me out of here.”— when asked about the Gnomish Praetorians.
“Hurry...”
Once you completed the objectives to set him free:
“I hate giving those damn Praetorians what they want, but it was the only real way, weren't it? It's all the fault of the damned Hierophant... but now that I'm free, we'll see just how much our dear leader will regret leading me to this cell. I'm making myself scarce, dove, and you best do the same. But I'll be seeing you before too long - count on it.”
While doing 'Going Rogue' at Rithen:
“Well ain't this a sight to take in. My own little dove, all grown up and robbing this place with no care for want nor cause. Took a bit of doing to track you and poor Phasmer down here. but when I heard what job you were on, I had to find you.”— upon encountering him in Rithen
“The Hierophant had it in for me -- meant to see me on a noose for not being a quiet little servant. So I left the Travelers. I guess as long as I got the message, it didn't matter if I was dead or not. Hierophant's mistake. I had to learn all I could of the Hierophant -- and that brought me here. To you.”— when asked Where have you been?
“I've been off in the dark for a while, dove, and I'm sorry for that, after all you did for me in Ohn's Stand. But I had to go underground. I had to do a little digging. And I found a bit, dove. I found quite a bit. I told you the Hierophant set me up. Well, just in case you had any doubts -- the Hierophant set you and Phasmer up here.”— if you tell Grim, It's good to see you.
“Think, dove. True, Phasmer ran his mouth about the Hierophant -- but you're a separate case. I did some digging. The Hierophant sees all. Knows all, so they say. And that makes you a threat. You were both sent here because the Hierophant knew at least one of you would be cursed. So I came to help.”— when asked The Hierophant set me up?
“We help poor Phasmer. I heard the job would take you to Rithen, and I learned about the amulet. This gem should be able to negate the curse. Give it to Phasmer, will you?”— when asked So what now?
“It's most likely what's behind this insurrection. Some Amulet of Telogrus, disguised as a gift. Always check a gem for flaws, dove.”— when asked about the Amulet.
To you.”— when asked about Grim Onwig.
“Strange place ain't it? The old captain here got fed up with the army's incompetence. So now they're in revolt.”— when asked about Rithen.
“Use that gem I gave you on the amulet that cursed him. That should set him right again.”— when asked How can I help Phasmer?.
While doing 'Going Rogue' at Rithen, after freeing Phasmer Humm:
“Good to see Phasmer's back among the moving. Let's make sure we don't let the Hierophant get him. If you see Irion, tell him Phasmer died. But on to other thing. You've been running around these lands like a good Traveler, dove. But now, I have a job for you. We've all tasted the Hierophant's malice. Now let's make sure we return the favor.”— upon speaking to him after freeing Phasmer.
During Mirror, Mirror:
“I got a plan, dove. We're doing more than getting our revene -- we're removing the Hierophant from power, to rule the Travelers no more. The Hierophant meant for me to die while stealing a certain book -- the Missives of Sable -- which was claimed by gnomes after we left. I can think of no better weapon for my revenge. But the gnomes have hidden it away. I need you to steal the Glass of Ambient, to help us locate it.”— when asked How are you planning to do that?.
“It's unlucky, dove, but it's your lot. The Hierophant sees all, knows all -- except for you.”— when asked Why do I have to do this?.
“It's an ancient bit of Erathi magic. It's older than these lands -- what even older than the Fae, I'd reckon. With the right thought, it shows the object of one's desire, if it be a familiar thing -- meaning we can use it to find the Missives once more.”— when asked What's the Glass of Ambient?.
“Look, dove. The Hierophant don't know we're both alive, and when we've found out, we'll be in danger again. But it's worse than that. The Hierophant's not just getting rid of dissidents, they're keeping the Travelers untalented -- and thus dependent. In time, the Travelers will be nothing more than suckling babes, dependent on the Hierophant for survival.”— when asked Why get rid of the Hierophant?.
“It's in an old Erathi ruin to the south, called the Blackened Hall -- between you and the Glass is an army of demons, and three trials. To bypass the trials, I left you a gift at the dungeon's entrance -- Buru's Boots. Those, along with the amulet you and Phasmer stole, should help. The Glass is powerful, dove, and well-guraded. But you're the only one who walk free of the Hierophant's gaze. It's all up to you.”— when asked Where can I find the Glass?.
“There's the Aisle of Flame, where any who aren't quick on their feet will burn. Use Buru's Boots to tread safely through them. Then there's the Dark Maze, a labyrinth of hidden paths. You'll just have to find a way through, dove. Lastly is the Guardian. They say it's a demon that can't be killed... but if you use the Rithen Amulet, you can curse it, like Phasmer was.”— when asked What are the trials I'll face?.
After completing Going Rogue:
“Nasty bit or ruin, from what I heard. Legend says an old king reigned there with his wife. Wonderful, too, I reckon. Halls of flame, magical mazes... but it's a bad ending. His wife was a monster all along. And by monster I mean demon. So the story goes at any rate. Will take a thief of good class to break in... and I think you're just the fit, dove.”— when asked about the Blackened Hall. Will add the Blackened Hall to your map if not previously discovered.
“There's the Aisle of Flame, where any who aren't quick on their feet will burn. Use Buru's Boots to tread safely through them. Then there's the Dark Maze, a labyrinth of hidden paths. You'll just have to find a way through, dove. Lastly is the Guardian. They say it's a Niskaru that can't be killed... but if you use the Rithen Amulet, you can curse it, like Phasmer was.”— when asked about the Blackened Hall Trials.
“The story goes that they're drawn to the Glass like thieves to a jewel. Wouldn't doubt it; the hall is a strange place by all accounts. Supposedly, they thought the Glass could help them see, but the Guardian will let nothing near.”— when asked about the Demons.
“Thought you might need to rely on a bit more than your odd luck on this one, dove. So I got you Buru's Boots and the Amulet of Rithen. I meant to get the Master's Pick as well, but... sometimes, dove, you have to make do with your own's hen's eggs. Now, use them as you wish. but they ain't got much magic left in them -- so be warned -- they won't last you forever.”— when asked about Grim's Items.
“A Niskaru, dove. Legends say she fooled the King of Blackened Hall. Slipped in and took it right over. You've got your work cut out for you dove. And I've mine to do as well. Let's get moving.”— when asked about The Guardian.
“It's in the Blackened Hall. Place has a nasty reputation of being... well, a death sentence. The trials themselves aren't insurmountable. I needed a few familiar items to help you with them: Buru's Boots, and the Amulet of Rithen. You've got your work cut out for you dove. And I've mine to do as well. Let's get moving.”— when asked Where's the Glass of Ambient?.
