“A settler caravan was attacked on the mountain path, sending it tumbling down into a canyon. Now the road is closed to all other caravans. A Warsworn guard was sent to investigate, but she hasn’t returned. I’m going to try and locate the missing guard.”

Guard Down is a side quest available in the Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning exclusive Fatesworn DLC.
Walkthrough[]
Search for Pledgeshield Bolton[]
After receiving the side quest from Donovan Byrnes proceed northwest down the main road and descend to the canyon below to search for Pledgeshield Bolton. She can be found lying on the ground next to an overturned cart beside the river. Speak to her to proceed with the quest.
Find the Kobold Lair[]
“According to Pledgeshield Bolton, Kobolds ambushed the caravan and looted the wagons. She claims they live in a lair someplace nearby. Since she is feeling up to it, she will join me in clearing the Kobold stronghold.”
Head northwest towards the kobold’s cave. You’ll be ambushed by a group of kobolds enroute, but you’ll be assisted by Pledgeshield Bolton throughout the ensuing skirmish. Once they have been dealt with continue towards the cave and slay the remaining kobolds.
Return to Donovan Byrnes[]
“I’ve cleared out the Kobold lair, removing the threat from future caravans coming down the mountain path. I should return to the caravan leader, Donovan Byrnes, to report my progress.”
Return to Donovan Byrnes and speak to him to complete the quest.
Rewards[]
“After a bloody attack on a settler caravan, I followed a group of Kobolds back to their lair and disposed of them. This opened the mountain path for future caravans.”
