Karth Hilfred is a male Almain apprenticed to the Gnome alchemist Nanne Hanri. The Fateless One encounters him during the Recipe for Trouble side quest. Despite his master's praise and esteem Karth is dismissive of Nanne and believes that his impressive skill in alchemy will never bring him the riches and respect he desires. It is these desires that lead him to join the Red Legion by giving them the formula for the debilitating disease Nanne developed as a biological weapon to combat the Tuatha Deohn. He then took refuge inside the ancient ruins of Agnur Farhal and began spreading tales of it being haunted by Erathi spirits - despite the fact that no evidence supporting such tales exits - thereby ensuring that it would remain a safe hiding place for him and his fellow Red Legionnaires.
