Details[]
- "A refugee named Hugo Bux has been the subject of harassment by several others in camp. He’s asked for me to defend his honor by defeating these bullies in a fair fight. It’s been a long time since I’ve fought someone with my bare hands, and I’m out of practice. The first bully is a disgraced soldier named Dink."
Description[]
Outcast's Revenge is a side quest in the Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Fatesworn DLC expansion pack. The Fateless One receives this quest from Hugo Bux in Revival.
Walkthrough[]
Speak to Dink[]
After receiving the Outcast's Revenge side quest from Hugo Bux head across the bridge towards the southern side of the river to confront Dink. The disgraced soldier will scoff at the Fateless One’s demands and will retaliate with threats of violence. At this point the Fateless One is presented with two dialogue choices:
- YOU ASKED FOR IT: If this dialogue option is selected the Fateless One will accept Dink’s challenge to a fistfight.
- TRUST ME. THIS WILL HURT. (PERSUASION): If this dialogue option is chosen and the Fateless One is successful Dink will cower in fear and agree to leave Hugo alone from now on. There is a 66% chance of success if the Fateless One’s skills of persuasion are at maximum.
Defeat Dink in a Fistfight[]
- “The disgraced soldier Dink won’t back down, and I must fight him. This shouldn’t be too tough, even if I am a little rusty.”
If the Fateless One accepts Dink’s challenge or is unable to persuade him to stop bullying Hugo, they will face the disgraced soldier in a fistfight. The two combatants square off against each other inside a fighting ring adjacent to the western section of Revival’s wooden palisade. Magical barriers will surround the ring to keep the combatants inside and everyone else out. During the match the Fateless One and their opponent will be stripped of all armor from the waist up and will not be able to use weapons, shields, abilities, or healing items. Enemy blows can still be blocked, but the Fateless One will sustain damage. It's more effective to use the combat roll to dodge incoming attacks. Fortunately, Dink does not present much of a challenge and will go down for the count after only a few quick punches.
Speak to Hugo Bux[]
- “Now that I’ve dealt with Dink, he won’t bully others in the refugee camp. I should return to Hugo and find out who needs a lesson in manners next.”
Return to Hugo Bux and let him know that Dink will no longer trouble him.
Speak to Logan Darrow[]
- “Hugo wishes that I fight a notorious drunk named Logan Darrow. This powerful mage has tormented him since the day he first arrived in Revival, and she shows no signs of relenting. Maybe I can convince her to change her bullying ways.”
Fortunately, The Fateless One will have little difficulty finding Logan Darrow since she's only a short distance away from Hugo Bux’s tent. During the ensuing conversation, the drunken mage will refuse to stop bullying Hugo and subsequently challenge the Fateless One to a fistfight.
Defeat Logan Darrow in a Fistfight[]
- “The drunken mage Logan Darrow won’t back down, and I must fight. This shouldn’t be very difficult, after all, I am the Fateless One, even without my weapons.”
The same rules and conditions from the previous fistfight apply. Logan is faster and more agile than Dink, but will still go down with relative ease after a few quick punches.
Speak to Hugo Bux[]
- “Now that I’ve dealt with Logan Darrow, she won’t bully others in the refugee camp. I should return to Hugo and find out who needs a lesson in manners next.”
Return to Hugo Bux and let him know that Logan will no longer trouble him.
Speak to Private McGowan[]
- “Hugo wishes that I fight a cruel Warsworn mercenary named Private McGowan. This tough fighter uses his position as a protector of the camp to escape punishment for his actions. That all changes now.”
Head through the gate past the wooden palisade and turn left to find Private McGowan next to his tent on the western side of the main camp. Like Dink and Logan before him, McGowan will bristle at the Fateless One’s demands to stop bullying Hugo and will retaliate by challenging them to a fistfight.
Defeat Private McGowan in a Fistfight[]
- “The cruel mercenary Private McGowan won’t back down, and I must fight. He thinks he’s battled challenging opponents before… but he’s never killed the Balor.”
Once again the Fateless One and their opponent will be stripped of their weapons, shields, abilities, healing items, and armor from the waist up as they square off against each other with their bare fists. Use caution against Private McGowan. He’s stronger, tougher, and more aggressive than either of the Fateless One’s previous opponents. McGowan often strikes two or three powerful blows in quick succession. Matching McGowan’s aggressiveness or using hit-and-run tactics are both effective strategies to defeating the veteran mercenary.
Speak to Hugo Bux[]
- “Now that I’ve dealt with Private McGowan, he won’t bully others in the refugee camp. I should return to Hugo and find out if he needs anything else.”
Return to Hugo Bux and let him know that McGowan will no longer trouble him.
Speak to Drystan Rydder[]
- “Hugo appreciates everything I’ve done for him, and he believes he can now engage with the rest of the settlers without fear of harassment. In the meantime, I’ve been summoned to speak with Captain Rydder, the leader of the camp’s Warsworn protectors.”
After receiving Hugo’s heartfelt thanks he informs the Fateless One that the Warsworn’s commander, Drystan Rydder, wishes to speak with them. Head towards the Warsworn tent in the heart of Revival and speak to Drystan Rydder. In the conversation that follows the Fateless One will be presented with the following choices regarding Private McGowan’s fate:
- PUNISH AND BANISH HIM: If this choice is selected Private McGowan will be stripped of his rank and subsequently banished from the camp for abusing his position.
- HE’S BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH: If this choice is selected Private McGowan will be shown mercy and will not face punishement for abusing his position.
Regardless of the choice made the quest will be completed and the Fateless One will be rewarded for their efforts on Hugo Bux’s behalf.
Reward[]
- 6,036 Gold
- Level-dependent XP
Notes[]
- The game will crash while loading the fistfight if the camera settings (height, distance, and/or field of view) are set at too high of a value.
- It is recommended to complete this quest before completing Lyenna's quest due to Logan Darrow moving locations. Attempts to complete Hugo Bux's mission with Logan Darrow outside of camp has frozen the game.
- During the fade into the fight sequences, it also reloads to the map and the Fateless One's inventory during the transfer to the fist fight for each respective fight, during which if one has obtained a maxed out Alchemy rank where they have all the recipes via the skill, the recipes will enter into the Items tab under the Items menu, as well as the Alchemical Recipes under the Crafting tab in the Items Menu vanishing. It also forces unremovable versions of the Unstable Potion recipes into said Item Tab(These count against your inventory space). The only way to avoid this, is to hit up a Fate Weaver prior to starting, and respec after having finished the quest or respeccing and placing points anywhere EXCEPT Alchemy at Max Rank. Additionally, if it possible to restore the Alchemical Recipes under the Crafting Tab in the Items menu by respeccing. All recipes still count as known during this state, they are just in the incorrect location. It also is possible to sell those recipes by sending them to junk, and then selling all junk at a Vendor, or scrapping them via the Destroy Option from the Junk menu.
