The Gardens of Ysa is a location in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

    Background[edit | edit source]

The Gardens of Ysa, often referred to simply as 'Ysa' by mortals, is the capital city of the Summer Fae and the seat of the Court of Summer. It is found in the Sidhe away from the mortal settlements of the region. The Gardens of Ysa was founded by the Summer Fae king Ysa around 1200 BE, almost two centuries before the death and resurrection of the Fateless One. The Gardens originally spread from Dalentarth, through Erathell and into Detyre.  Facing the encroachment of mortals and the ravages of war, Ysa continues to dwindle in size. In recent years, some mortals have been permitted to settle in Ysa. Embassies have been established to represent the Almain, Varani, Dokkalfar, Ljosalfar, and Gnomes. A chapter of the Scholia Arcana was established as well. With the increasing dangers associated with the Crystal War, access to the Gardens of Ysa has become more controlled with the World Tree, Nyralim, concealing the path into the city to anyone that does not receive its approval.

    Description[edit | edit source]

The lower portions of the Gardens are divided into the Understyle, where the homes of the native Summer Fae are, and Felltown, the newly constructed quarter of the mortal immigrants to the city. The main entrance to the city is between Felltown and the Understyle, along with the stairways up to the Trellis. A pathway called the Memory Walk runs between Felltown and the Understyle on the other side of the city from the entrance. There is also a small compound for the representatives of the Scholia Arcana in Ysa. High above the lower portions of the city is the Trellis, where the Court of Summer sits surrounded by the sanctuaries of the great houses of the Summer Fae and the Font.

You will not "discover" (earn a fast travel point on the world map) Ysa until you enter the city and speak with Chancellor Erawn.

    Citizen Quotes[edit | edit source]

    Quotes from the Guard:

I'd advise you to leave me to my task. You could say I have a mortal's temper.
All must follow the Peace Edict. It is the rule in Ysa.
I don't know why Titarion ever allowed mortals into this sacred place.
Move along. I must not be bothered.
The Peace Edict applies to all mortals, noble and common alike. That means you, too.
Mortals are such passionate things. You exhibit such lack of judgment.
Yes, what do you want? I take this responsibility very seriously.
Keep all of your weapons sheathed, and do not use magic. This city is a safe area.
Do not distract me, dustling. I am meant to watch, to protect.
My role is not to protect mortals, just keep them calm. You all possess a fiery temper.

    Quotes from the Fae:

Don't bring your dark war here to Ysa.
    Excuse me, mortal.
    See Olaana for sagecrafting.
Your mortal ambassadors will not give up. It is both admirable, and pathetic.
I marvel at how such diverse mortal races can coexist in one city. I wonder how long it will last.
Our lives here have not been the same since your people arrived. I hope this is a temporary situation.
Have you seen Lord Setter? Beio is looking for him. Lady Whenery, as well.
The Font's magic is too great to be harnessed, but it can be controlled. The Lyceum Grove is where we regulate its magic.
If sagecrafting intrigues you, visit Olaana. She is always in need of help.
If you would be so kind as to not disturb us in our Reverie. It is the least you can do.
Kerrinan is one of the most talented Fateweavers in Amalur. The power of the Font improves her sight.

    Quotes from "Children of Dust":

I prefer to pray at night, when it's peaceful.
    Don't be shy.
    Mortals need to stick together.
I met with the Court of Summer just recently. Titarion was quite gracious, although he didn't grant any of my request.
Maybe I'll leave tomorrow. Maybe not.
    Off to play some Hexes.
If you want to see a remarkable sight, venture to the higher Terrace after dark. That's when Reverie occurs.
We're friendly enough in Felltown, but we still like to keep our secrets. Everyone is listening.
Is it just me, or does the water level seem to be dropping. I must be seeing things. They say the Font's flow never falters. Hm.
The Scholia Arcana are the only outside institution allowed within the city. If you're interested in magic, you should visit them.
Memory Walk is an unnatural place, cursed by the Fae's false gods. I would avoid it, if I were you.
Mark my words. The Summer Court will end its neutrality, by its own hand... or someone else's.
Our days are hard, petitioning the Court, pleading with the High King. Whoever said an ambassador's life was easy?
If this were my city, I'd want to hide it too. If the Gardens of Ysa ever fell, I cringe to think of the outcome.
Do you have the authority to be here? The Gardens of Ysa are for the privileged few with papers.
It's not hard to find the Embassy. Just listen for the arguing.
You should come by town later tonight. That's when we Children of Dust really show the Fae what it means to live.
Be warned. There is a Peace Edict in the Gardens of Ysa. No disturbing the peace, and no open display of weapons. Ridiculous, I know.
Ysa is very tense these days, what with the Crystal War and magic. The Fae seem to revel in their ignorance.
The Fae like us to stay out of the Understyle. That's their district. Our kind linger in the shadows of Felltown.
I heard a rumor that there's a Fateweaver on the Trellis.
If you have any questions, speak with Gryamar near the city entrance. He is very helpful.
Have you noticed how the gnomes never seem to exit their branch of the Embassy? They are a most peculiar people.
